Is she going into labor?

Ok my gf is pregnant and she is due the 23rd of this month. Just yesterday she said that she felt like she had to take a b.m when she came out she said that it was really lose with a heavy felling above her hair line with a pain in her abdomen and her lower back and sides. the baby looks like it has drop. My question is her labor pains only come when she has to b.m and while she has a b.m and they are 4 hours apart. is that labor? Please I really need real answers on here. this is our first child. we also called the hospital and they said that it sounded like she was starting labor but they ar only 4 hours apart.
