Friend and friend conflicts.?

Okay, so me a friend and his girlfriend are having issues. He is uncomfortable with me talking to her but I have know the girl for longer. He has threatened me now with bodily harm if I don't stop talking to her. I am not going to fall to this pressure. Is there anyway to resolve this without it coming down to blows?
