Can anyone who regularly watches the Memphis Grizzlies explain why they haven't done well this season?

I know OJ Mayo has been struggling but why can't a team with Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol at least contend for the 8th seed in the playoffs. Is it poor defense? Lack of depth? combination of things? What is wrong with the Grizzlies?
